Mute your inner critic for good

Do you ever find yourself wishing there was a mute button for your inner critic just like on your TV or a Zoom call?

I did!

The mute button

I thought I would have to live with it forever – that voice inside of me telling me that:

  • I was doing it wrong

  • I wasn’t getting it done fast enough

  • I was doing it too fast for others to keep up with

  • I wasn’t doing enough

  • I was doing too much

  • I can have everything I want…if only I worked hard enough for it

  • I couldn’t have what I want…no matter how hard I worked or how qualified I was, because it wasn’t available to me

  • I wasn’t enough

  • I was too much

  • I didn’t have the right qualifications or certifications or experience

  • I was too qualified, experienced or had too many certifications

  • It can’t be done/it’s impossible, so don’t even try

  • It won’t get done if I don’t do it

  • I couldn’t rest, relax or just be

With such incessant chatter in my head, it's a wonder I got anything productive done, much less achieve anything!  I could never make it happy.  If the inner critic wasn’t on my case, it was causing me to criticize and judge those around me, making me and others unhappy, too.

In the process of learning to unconditionally love and accept myself, I realized I wasn’t judging or criticizing others so much.  The more I accepted myself, the more I was able to accept others just as they were.  I was able to sit still and catch my breath without beating myself up about it, while allowing others to do the same.

In the process of learning to unconditionally love and accept myself, I realized I wasn’t judging or criticizing others so much.  The more I accepted myself, the more I was able to accept others just as they were.

No one is born with an inner critic. The inner critic is created as we respond to our parents’ and carers’ feedback – all those times we are shushed or otherwise told to stop doing what comes naturally to us. As children (and even as adults) this happens A LOT!

No one technique or solution clears such deeply reinforced conditioning and programming on its own. If it did, everyone would be full of self love and loving and accepting of everyone else, too.

Clearing the deeply entrenched programming and beliefs that created my inner critic, allowed me to love and accept myself unconditionally is at the heart of Heal the Leader, my signature 1:1 program. This program is designed for female leaders at all levels who feel unvalued, unheard or overlooked in a male-dominated work environment and powerless to change it because your inner critic is on the job telling you that you’re not enough or too much or whatever it takes to keep you from your dreams.

During the 16 weeks of the program, we will work together to identify the programming and beliefs that created your inner critic. Using a variety of leading-edge techniques based on neuroscience, I’ll guide you through a process to release those beliefs and the strong emotions that go with them. Finally, we will remove what is blocking you from loving and accepting yourself unconditionally, silencing your inner critic AND unleashing your confidence and your voice so that you are able to go after exactly what you want!

Once you address the things that created your inner critic, you can release her and be able to:

  • Unconditionally accept yourself just as you are, so that you feel comfortable in your own skin

  • Accept others just as they are, enhancing all of your relationships

  • Release the anger, guilt, shame, anxiety and regret that inner critic has you carrying around, freeing up energy for to pursue your goals
